Mike Steranka Founder Michael Steranka, CEO of Retirement Planning Services, Inc. has been helping people plan for their retirement for nearly twenty years. As an insurance advisor, Mike has a passion for helping his clients protect their assets and reach their retirement and income planning goals.
Mr. Steranka has been a speaker at national level industry events such as the Senior Market Expo in Las Vegas in 2007 and the Learn to Earn Summit in Kansas City in 2008.
Mike began his career with New York Life in Chevy Chase, Maryland and achieved the Million Dollar Round Table status in 1993 before leaving to start his own firm. The MDRT provides its members with resources to improve their technical knowledge, sales and client services while maintaining a culture of high ethical standards. As part of this association, Mike is a member of The Million Dollar Round Table’s Top of the Table, the highest sales level for insurance industry professionals.
For almost two decades Mike has been a money manager and investment advisor representative for corporations, trusts, individuals, families, state and federal government employees, and business owners of the Anne Arundel community. As a professional concerned with the health, financial, and social issues facing retirees today, Mike has received continuing education and training throughout his career including being trained by Ed Slott, a well known author and tax planning specialist.
Director of Operations Nick is the Director of Operations for Retirement Planning Services, Inc. and brings to the firm 6 years of experience in the financial services industry, both as a Financial Advisor and Operations Manager. His expertise most recently includes managing the operations of a 100+ advisor financial services office but he has also worked closely with clients individually on their insurance and investment needs.
Nick is a graduate of Towson University with a BS in Marketing and he has also earned his Accredited Asset Management Specialist (SM)/(AAMS®) designation through the College for Financial Planning. He holds the Series 7 & 66 as well as his Life & Health license in the state of Maryland. Nick lives with his wife Amy and their son Sean in Columbia, Maryland.
Director of Marketing Tara is the Director of Marketing for Retirement Planning Services, Inc. and came to RPS from Tri-Coastal Design, in Manhattan where she worked as an Account Executive. Tara has experience with sales, marketing, event planning and brings a creative eye to the team.
Tara is a graduate of West Virginia University and currently lives with her husband and son in Silver Spring, MD.
Director of Client Services Barbara is the Director of Client Services for Retirement Planning Services, Inc.
Having gained a background in financial services working for T. Rowe Price, Barbara joined the RPS team in the spring of 2010 and has over five years of retirement planning experience. Barbara serves as a vital team member, analyzing client data, working with financial planning software, and assisting in generating wealth management strategies. She is experienced with eMoney Wealth Advisor and pursuing a Notary Public license. Barbara practices superior customer service and aids in fostering long term business relationships while acting as a valuable point of contact for RPS clients.
Barbara graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a degree in Media Marketing and Administration. She currently resides in Annapolis, MD.
